I am regularly invited to teach ACL reconstruction, knee preservation and sports knee surgery to orthopaedic surgeons throughout the world, with faculty appointments and invited lectures across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Greece, Italy and Spain.
Commitment to Public Health & Surgical Education
I founded and continue to direct the Sports Trauma Service across Fiona Stanley Hospital and Fremantle Hospital, providing specialist care for complex sports knee injuries while maintaining a longstanding commitment to Perth’s public health system.
I also serve as Chief Supervisor of the Perth Sports Surgery Fellowship an international fellowship programme that attracts more than 150 applicants each year for a single position. More than twenty fellowship graduates now practise throughout Australia, Europe, North America and Asia, helping share contemporary sports knee surgery around the world.
Research & Academic Practice
As an Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia I have authored more than 100 peer reviewed scientific publications in sports surgery.
My research focuses on:
- ACL reconstruction
- Knee ligament surgery
- Meniscal preservation
- Cartilage restoration
- Return to sport
- Knee preservation
Research is an important part of my practice because it helps ensure that clinical decisions are guided by the best available evidence, while continually improving the care we provide to patients.
