Dr Jayd Lukenchuk

Jayd is an orthopedic surgeon whose passion for sports medicine is deeply rooted in his background as a former gymnast on the Canadian National Gymnastics Team. Having personally experienced the intense physical demands and unique injuries associated with high-performance athletics, including an ACL rupture, he developed a profound interest in the biomechanics of the knee and shoulder.

Jayd completed his orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of Calgary before accepting a shoulder surgery fellowship at the Roth | McFarlane Hand and Upper Limb Clinic, and the Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine group in London, Ontario, Canada; successfully bridging his elite athletic background with a dedicated medical career. Jayd’s drive to master complex soft tissue procedures led him to pursue advanced international training in Perth, Australia, with the Perth Sports Surgery Fellowship team.

Returning to practice in his hometown of Saskatoon, Canada, Jayd is dedicated to delivering the highest standard of evidence-based care to a diverse patient population; treating everyone from elite competitors to “weekend warriors.” His clinical focus centers on advanced surgical repairs and reconstructions of the knee and shoulder, with a particular emphasis on tailoring treatments to meet the rigorous physical demands of sports medicine.

Outside the operating room Jayd maintains a passion for adrenaline-fueled activities like rock-climbing, scuba-diving, skiing, and the occasional sky-dive. And, on the days when he needs to remind himself he hasn’t completely lost his acrobatic edge, you can find him at a drop-in gymnastics class, proving he still has a few flips left in his repertoire.
